the title of the ‘listen to soup’ collaboration project naturally immediately reminded me of the ramen from harubarutei. the ingredients for my ‘soup t-shirt’ were vegetables and kelp. they were captured in analogue photographs, developed in a darkroom. i put the resulting photographs in water again, bleached, and dissolved them in water. i cut out the moment when the soup ingredients dissolved in water and silk-screen printed the image.

Originally from japan, kyoco taniyama has been based in berlin since 2018. her work developed around concept of «ubiety», an archaic word used to describe the condition or quality of being in a place, of being located or situated. exploring the interconnectedness of places, people, and identities within various cultural contexts. she specializes in site-specific multimedia installation that integrate sculpture and moving images.

ザ・スープ
アーティスト: キョウコ・タニヤマ
「スープを聴く」というコラボ企画のタイトルから、当然ながらすぐに、はるばるていのラーメンを思い出した。私の「スープTシャツ」の材料は野菜と昆布だった。それらをアナログ写真に収め、暗室で現像した。 出来上がった写真を再び水に入れ、漂白し、水に溶かした。スープの材料が水に溶けた瞬間を切り取り、シルクスクリーンでプリントした。
