artist: Hedya Klein
while visiting japan, the visual arrangement of food and food displays made an impression on me. i made small paintings of dishes i ate at sanae’s ramen restaurant, window displays, the fish market, and supermarkets. fish soup was one piece i made among a series of paintings on paper plates, bowls and cups that were part of an installation, hanami picnic.
Hedya Klein is an artist who lives and works in the usa and austria. she teaches in the department of studio art at Middlebury college and co-runs hotelpupik, an international artist residency in austria.

日本を訪れている間、食べ物やディスプレイの 視覚的な配置が印象に残った。 早苗のラーメン屋、ウィンドウ・ディスプレイ、魚市場、 スーパーマーケットで食べた料理を小さな絵にした。
「魚のスープ」は、インスタレーション「お花見ピクニック」 の一部である、紙皿、ボウル、カップに描いた一連の作品の 中の一点である。 ヘディヤ・クラインはアメリカとオーストリアを 拠点に活動するアーティスト。
ミドルベリーカレッジのスタジオアート科で教鞭をとり、 オーストリアで国際的なアーティスト・レジデンス 「hotelpupik」を共同運営している。
