artist: Uli Vonbank-Schedler
the image on the shirt is a play on the sound of the two words: japanese ‘soup’ and german ‘frame’. the missing «h» in the latin spelling of japanese ‘ramen’ is added by the chopsticks on the bowl (so that the equation is correct). the work is a tongue-in-cheek attempt to portray connective things between the two cultures. In my opinion, far too much attention is paid to what is different and this is the source of much suffering and misery in this world.
Uli Vonbank-Schedler is an austrian cultural activist, curator and visual artist. her work includes curating artworks, exhibitions and festivals, participatory projects. she lives and works in styria/austria.
