例えばデザイン案を新しく考えるときに、元のアイデアは新たなアイデアにどう影響するのか、
デザインのひとつひとつを決定していくのは誰なのか、あるいは何なのか。
そこでは、その時々の「時代精神」や、時事的な問題提起が重要であることは明らかである。
つまり、デザインとは社会の変化の現れであり、本質としてユートピア的またはデストピア的であるデザインは、
それ自体が社会の一部となって社会が発展していくプロセスに加担するものである。
